Syllabus suitability

Are the programmes suitable for OCR as well as AQA?

Sociology:
Although our programmes are designed mostly with the AQA syllabus in mind, they are all relevant to OCR AS and A2 as they cover the same topic areas.

Psychology:
All our programmes are relevant for AQA and most are also relevant for OCR. The ones that perhaps are not covered in the OCR syllabus are Mental Disorder and Eating Disorders.

Are any of the programmes suitable for GCSE?

Although many of our programmes cover the same topic areas as the GCSE syllabus they sometimes contain quite complex theoretical analysis which would be too difficult for most GCSE students. The teacher would need to choose sections of the video to show to this age group. With this is mind we can recommend the following:
Sociology:
Introducing Sociology would be an excellent video for students starting sociology.
Families and Households, Theory and Methods and From Modernity to Postmodernity contain much that would be useful for the younger student.. From the Classic Collection, Sue Sharpe and Michelle Stanworth on educational studies, Ann Oakley on the housewife role and Paul Willis on why working class lads get working class jobs would work well with this age group.
Psychology:
Most of these priogrammes woudl be relevant for AQA GCSE with the exception of Stress Management and Mental Disorder.
For OCR GCSE the following would be relevant: Experimental Methods, Non-experimental Methods, Perspectives on Psychology and Obedience and Ethics.

What new products are coming up?

In 2008, we are continuing our production of Short Cuts DVD's and we are adding History, Health & Social Care and Business Studies to our Sociology and Psychology collections.

Can I suggest an idea for a programme?
